The Medical Department is looking for excellent students with the following qualities.
1)

A doctor is someone who demonstrates sympathy through their specialised knowledge and skills. In addition, not just academic ability but also critical thinking, cooperation, a positive attitude alongside a strong desire to contribute to society as a future doctor.

A motivated person with strong public spirit and creativity
Public spirit is having an open heart and considering all people to be equal. Medicine is a field with many unknowns, the solving of which requires creativity and the desire to continue studying medicine’s steady progression.

A nurse works in the area of a patient’s general health. Not only those who are ill, but also their families and those living in the local area rely upon nurses and have many expectations of them. Nurses work with people of all ages. They differ not just in physical characteristics but also in their life philosophies, values and circumstances. The qualities we want are a strong interest in a person as a whole and wanting to work towards people’s well-being.

Medical Department Student Intake: 105

In the Medical Department our aim is to train people to learn the knowledge and skills of medicine as it progresses daily and, as a doctor or academic, to practise medicine with a rich sense of humanity and work towards the advancement of medicine.
In the Medical Department’s Technical Training, for pre-clinical training there is a team of teaching staff which includes a lecturer from each area of basic medicine in clinical practice, taking an integrated approach to teaching about each organ and disease. It is necessary to pass the national exam relating to the knowledge and practical skills learned in pre-clinical training before beginning the fifth or sixth year of clinical training. During clinical training, in addition to practising at the University Hospital and the Prefectural Central Hospital, there is a selective system for practising at regional or overseas hospitals.
